Iron Horse Farms Summer Camp 2007CHA Certified Camp Director Susan Grigsby would like to welcome you to Camp Iron Horse! We are offering three sessions of Equestrian summer camp for 2007. Riders are divided into ability groups to insure that each camper receives instruction at his or her own level. We make sure our summer camps are fun for all of our riders regardless of their level of riding experience! Iron Horse Farms Summer Equestrian Camp is a terrific place for kids to learn all about horses, meet new friends, and have tons of fun. We have over 15 acres of lush green pastures, private paddocks, both indoor and outdoor riding arenas for all-weather riding, exceptional trainers and a staff dedicated to making your child's experience the absolute best!
Activities: Iron Horse Farms Equestrian camps are for those horse crazy boys and girls who just aren't happy unless they are around their favorite animals! Each rider is assigned a horse that matches that rider's ability level and then they stay together for the week getting to know each other. There are two rides per day which includes formal instruction, bareback balancing, and games on horseback. There are arts and crafts activities offered daily and, during the hottest part of the day, we work in a sports activity that involves some splashing fun! Each day builds on the skills learned the day before so that by the end of the week we have a camp full of confident riders ready to show off what they've learned. Campers bring their own lunch each day along with a change of clothes and a bathing suit – just in case we get a little wet or dirty! Don’t forget the sunscreen!
Barn Talk and Stable Management: While one group is riding, another group is in the cool comfort of the barn office getting hands-on instructional classes on the practical care of horses and their equipment. Beginners are taught how to groom, saddle, and care for their horse. More advanced riders dig deeper into feed, hoof care, common ailments and their cures, and stable management. We also make sure our riders become familiar with different horse breeds, markings, and basic horse anatomy. When time permits we squeeze in lessons on nutrition, braiding, show rules and costumes, and much, much more!
Horse Show on Friday: Each Iron Horse Farms camp session ends with a horse show for parents, friends, and families of our campers. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their new skills and are recognized with a certificate of accomplishment and their camp T-shirt. Everyone's a winner at Camp Iron Horse! No need to bring lunch on Friday – we’ll either order a pizza or have a cook-out before performing for our friends and families! Ready to sign up?
